“What is your favorite part of working with animals?”

I have always loved spending time with pets and animals. They bring out my own sense of wonder and curiosity at the world as I, a human, try to understand their point of view. Building relationships with my own pets has taught me to be compassionate, take responsibility and how to give and receive love freely. Growing up I had a beagle and chickens, and it was always so wonderful to see how our worlds collided. I really love that it takes empathy to communicate with our animal friends rather than language and I think the relationships that we form in this way are exceptional. We are so lucky to live our lives with our pets.

"What is your number one pet care tip?"

For older pets, find out what they like to do and do it! For my dog, it was a slow walk around the block at night. Sometimes it's ok to keep things simple and at a certain point your pet knows exactly what they do and don't want to do. Maybe they love to play ball, have a healthy meal, cuddle or watch tv, but give them something to look forward to and be consistent!

"What is your favorite part about working at Pet Waggin?"

Pet Waggin is so much fun! It says it in the name! We do our best to keep those dogs tails waggin and oftentimes the things that are fun for them are fun for us too! I love that every pet gets care that is specific to their needs and that all the families are so kind to us and them. It's amazing to get the opportunity to build bonds with such amazing animals and I love spending time with them.

In addition, Mary Ellen is exceptionally organized and understanding and everyone that works at Pet Waggin is so kind and caring. We receive training on positive reinforcement, reading body language and staying safe! It is an amazing business and I feel very lucky to be a part of the team.
