"What is your favorite part of working with animals?"
I have always loved animals, and feel so blessed to work with them every day. I think what I love the most about working with pets is that they give so much, and ask so little. A smile, a scratch, a treat, a walk, all of these make a pet happy. And for this they LOVE YOU BACK. Always. If you love them, they love you. I have learned so much about patience and understanding from the pets I have known.
Like people, they all have their own personalities, habits and quirks. Some amusing, and some not so much. But I find that if you get to know them, and look at THEIR life experience, understanding goes a long way.
I come to Pet Waggin' with 4 years experience in veterinary hospitals, 3 years officially fostering kittens, and roughly 10 years of doing my own rescues, including trap, neuter and release of feral cats. I have also been blessed to work with exotics and wildlife.
"What is your #1 pet care tip or something you want to share with clients?"
Being Christmas (or really, this applies to any time of the year), my pet care tip is to always be VERY aware of what is in your home. For example, poinsettias, though beautiful, are highly toxic to cats and dogs. In addition, candy, particularly chocolate, is toxic. Wrapped candy looks like a fun crackly treat to your pet, and many WILL eat them. So, please be aware of these toxic things, and place them where your pet can't get them. Our pets are curious creatures - be cautious and alert so you can enjoy the holidays and years with them by your side!
