Pet Waggin' Pet Care
Long Beach Pet-Friendly Businesses: What’s Open (& What’s Not)
If you know anything about us here at Pet Waggin’ Pet Care, you know that community engagement and support is at the core of what we do. As a small pet care business ourselves, we’ve been super concerned about our other fur-friend businesses out there in Long Beach!
Pandemic or no pandemic, your pets still have their needs to socialize, attend appointments, get their supplies, and more. And it’s been ruff getting a handle on what’s open and what’s not, or what protocols have been put in place so that everyone feels safe. That’s why we decided to do the homework for you.
We called our favorite businesses around Long Beach, got all the information you need, and put them all in one place… here! So if you need to fulfill your pet needs but are unsure of where to go, check this list and see what’s available*:
*Note: As we're sure you know, things are continually changing and being updated, so please take that into consideration when reading the below information.*
1. Signal Hill Pet Grooming
So, it’s been a minute since Fido has gotten a cut and he’s probably looking a bit shaggy. No worries! Signal Hill Pet Grooming is keeping it super safe… and sanitized! They ask that everyone wears masks and sanitize their hands before check-out. Their hours have remained the same as listed below, so go ahead and make that appointment!
Location: 1830 Redondo Ave, Suite A in Signal Hill
Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat 8am-4pm, & Sun closed
2. LaunderPet - Bixby Knolls
If your pet needs some grooming and supplies, LaunderPet is your “two birds with one stone” one-stop-shop! Their hours have remained the same, with slight alterations to their services: self-service washes are only available at their Belmont location. Otherwise, be sure to wear your face covering when you head to their Bixby store!
Location: 3429 E. Broadway
Hours: Mon - Sat: 9am - 6pm; Sun: 9am - 5pm
3. Doggy D'Tails
A well-groomed pet is a happy pet, and happy means healthy! Keeping your pet happy (and shiny) is essential, which is why we were so glad we could boost this small business, Doggy D’Tails. Their hours have remained the same, plus they’ve got an incredibly convenient and safe system: you simply give them a call, make an appointment, and drop off your pet. Little to no contact required!
The Details: Location: 1785 Palo Verde Ave. Suite H
Hours: Tues - Sun: 8am - 7pm
1. Bixby Animal Clinic
We don’t need to tell you how crucial it is for your pets to keep up with their routine vet visits. Bixby Animal Clinic is still open and their hours have remained the same! Due to COVID-19, however, they have temporarily implemented a curbside “drop-off” only. Check their website for more details!
Location: 3938 Atlantic Ave
Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-7pm, Sat 8am-4pm, & Sun 8am-4pm
2. Lakewood Pet Vet
Located in Lakewood, Lakewood Pet Vet has upheld the same standards and protocols as Bixby Animal Clinic! Their hours have remained the same, but they are also temporarily implementing a curbside “drop-off” only. Like Bixby, they’re also keeping up with serious sanitization standards.

1. Feline Good Social Club Cat Cafe
After temporarily closing its doors for community safety, Feline Good Social Club Cat Cafe is back in action as of Tuesday, September 1! You’ll want to keep them on your radar as you slip on your favorite mask and get ready to hit the town: they’re a cat lounge and an adoption service for all-in-one fun with kitties! Their mission is extremely important, so if you’re not ready for a feline romp in their cafe, consider donating to help keep kitties safe here.
Location: 301 Atlantic Ave
Hours: Temporarily Closed
2. Long Beach Animal Care Services
Long Beach Animal Care is one of Pet Waggin’ Pet Care’s absolute favorites, and we were so happy to get in touch in order to help the animals of Long Beach find their fur-ever homes. And what better time to adopt a pet than during lockdown? Their hours are the same, but in order to stay safe, they operate by appointment only. Give them a call and find the fur-baby of your dreams!
Location: 700 E Spring St.
Hours: Wed - Fri: 10am - 5pm; Sat - Sun: 10am - 3:30pm
1. Centinela Feed
Centinela Feed is one of our favorite family-owned businesses that expanded to bring their expertise (and pet supplies) to different communities. We were happy to learn that their services and hours have remained the same, but they do require all patrons to mask up, and help keep the community safe!
Location: 4700 Pacific Coast Hwy
Hours: Mon - Fri: 9am - 9pm; Sat - Sun: 9am - 8pm
2. Pet Food Express
Pet parents will find everything they need here, including a wash for their pups! Pet Food Express let us know that their pet washes are still open, but that face coverings are required to ensure the safety of their patrons and their pet family. If you’re already loyal to Pet Food Express, don’t forget about their delivery service!
Location: 4220 Long Beach Blvd.
Hours: Mon - Fri: 9:30am - 8:30am; Sat: 9am - 8pm; Sun: 10am - 7pm

1. The Red Leprechaun
Unfortunately, this place is temporarily closed, but we can’t wait to get our Irish-American grub on at The Red Leprechaun when they reopen their doors! We hear they’re scheduled to open again on December 1st, so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out!
Location: 4000 East Anaheim Street
Hours: Temporarily Closed
2. The Social List
During this time, The Social List is offering outside seating only… which is great for your pooch! If you need to use their restrooms inside, they ask that you wear a mask, but otherwise, you can enjoy their outside dining experience worry free!

Hours: Mon - Sun: 9am - 9pm
3. The Plunge
Take the plunge and let Fido enjoy something scrumptious off their dog-friendly menu! Hours for The Plunge are still the same, but make sure you’re wearing your masks when you’re not at the table. Hit up the patio for a relaxing experience outdoors! The Plunge also offers curbside, takeout, and free local delivery.

1. Recreation Dog Park
Feelin’ cooped up? Your pup needs to stretch all four of his legs, and will be thrilled to run around at the park, where you can keep your space from other humans and benefit from fresh air and sunshine, too.
Location: 5201 E. 7th Street
Hours: 6am - 10pm every day
2. Rosie's Dog Beach
One of the most popular dog beaches is open! The great thing about being outdoors is that it’s easier to spread apart and stay safe. When interacting closely with someone who isn’t of your household, your masks are required at the beach. And, for the time being, they prohibit large gatherings.
Location: On Ocean Boulevard between Granada Ave. & Roycroft Ave.
Hours: 6am - 8pm
3. Gum Grove Park
If you leash up your pup, you can enjoy a long walk down the nearby Hellman trail at Gum Grove and enjoy 10 glorious acres! This is a lovely reminder of how healthy it is to get outside every once in a while. Be sure to note, however: coyotes are very common in this area… so be careful with your pets and children!
Location: Crestview & Avalon Drive (On the Hill)
Hours: Dawn until Dusk
Speaking of the great outdoors, check out other natural scenes to take your pooch. We love taking your furry friends outdoors, but we know the humans need to get outside too!
