A Day in the Life of a Pet Waggin’ Pet Sitter

We are so, so lucky to have a big Long Beach family of pet parents who trust us with their homes and with their pets. We’ve worked hard over the years to develop and maintain that trust, and build stronger and stronger bonds with your pets.


We love what we do, and we’re proud of it! That’s why we wanted to offer you a behind-the-scenes look at all that we do to ensure your pets are happy, healthy, and safe in our care. Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of a pet sitter looked like? Well here it is… a play-by-play of what it’s like to be a pet sitter!



Here is a sample schedule of a Pet Waggin’ Pet Sitter:


1. Rise and Shine!

Everyone’s morning routines are different. Some of us like to ease into the day with a cup of coffee and reflect on what we want to get done that day. Some of us like to spring into action and stretch our legs in preparation for the vigorous walks we’re going to take with your pups.


But all of us first check our emails from Time to Pet (our scheduling software) and review all the upcoming visits for the day. We go over client and pet information, any relevant updates, and make sure we’re up to date on all the day entails!



2. Plan, Plan, Plan

You’ll never find a professional team of pet care experts more organized than us. We are detail-oriented and like to make our operations smooth. How else can you manage so many pets in one day!? But mapping out your day is always a good idea, no matter what field you’re in. Once we go over client and pet information, we develop a schedule for ourselves, mapping out the order in which we’re going to visit your pets.


We also plan what we’re going to do with your pets, going over places we’ve visited recently so we can keep things fresh and interesting. Are there any new activities to try? That’s part of our planning process, too!



3. Suit Up!

For pet sitters, it’s not just the “keys, wallet, phone” check before we head out the door. We’re also going to grab poop bags (duh), our face masks and hand sanitizer for COVID safety, and any other supplies we may need while we’re taking care of your pet.


Included in “suiting up” are our best walking shoes and comfortable clothes so we can play all day with our favorite Long Beach fur-friends.


4. Time to Visit

Our favorite part of the day: visiting your pets! Spending time with your fur-babies is even more fun now that we use the Time to Pet software. Time to Pet allows us to review all the information we need as we go, making sure there’s nothing that we’ve forgotten. We also make sure we can check off all the needs each individual pet has. Time to Pet has really helped us keep all our furry friends on schedule, route out our days, and how to best care for them.



5. Next Up: The Fun Stuff

There’s tons of things we love to do with your pets. Whether it’s an at-home cuddle with your favorite feline or an adventurous romp with your pup, we stay active and make sure everyone’s having a blast.


But one of the many things we love most about our jobs is all the great pics we get to take! Our camera rolls are chock-full of adorable fur-babies, and we absolutely LOVE to share them. Sharing pics is even better through Time to Pet… they get sent directly to your phone (if you downloaded the mobile app), so you can quickly save them and show everyone else!



6. Time to Wrap it Up

When fun time has come to an end, we go through the closing process. Once again, we go through our checklists according to each client to make sure your pets are left safe and sound (as well as the house). Any necessary clean-ups and lock-ups are done at this point.


Then, we’ll mark our visit as complete in the Time to Pet software. We send reports after each visit, informing our client of any and all things they need to know… and even stuff they don’t “need” to know but might enjoy hearing about! We’ll talk about your pet’s mood, behavior, favorite activity, or new fur-friends made out on our walk. And the best part is that you, the client, can message us back if you have any follow-up questions or comments. We love hearing from you!



A busy day, indeed, and we didn’t even mention our Pet Taxi & Supply Runs! In between our longer visits, we’re also busy picking up pet supplies for you from your favorite pet stores and dropping them off back at home. We’re also picking up furry friends for that grooming or vet appointment that you just can’t seem to find time for.


It may seem too good to be true, but yes… we darn near do it all! If you’re looking for a dog walker, pet sitter, or need someone to help with the pet errands, give us a call!
