Long Beach Holiday Activities In 2021

Updated: Oct 25, 2023

It’s hard to believe another holiday season is here. For some of us, this is the busiest time of year, and we’re desperately trying to make time for family. For others, the year is winding down, and it’s time to celebrate and let loose a little.

No matter which category you fall into, there’s plenty to do in and around Long Beach to make the holidays magical. Of course, things just wouldn’t be right without all of the family there. Fortunately, there are plenty of things you can do with the whole family... even the members with fur! That’s what makes Long Beach such a great place for dogs and their dog owners.

Due to COVID, there have been changes to some long-running events. Ensuring public safety has forced some changes to tradition. But don’t let that stop you from getting out and experiencing these events and maybe starting some new traditions of your own.

We’ve put together a list of the activities happening in and around Long Beach. Ready to start having some holiday fun? Keep reading so you don’t miss the festivities!

P.S. We’ve done our best to compile all of Long Beach’s best holiday festivities. However, details are always subject to change. Please visit each event’s website for the most up-to-date information.

Belmont Shore Christmas Parade- Unfortunately, the parade has been canceled for 2021. The organizers plan to have it back and better than ever by 2022. This parade is such a huge tradition we included it despite being canceled to keep the spirit alive for next year. But don’t worry, they have a backup plan this year that you won’t want to miss!

Belmont Shore Winter Village Saturday, Dec 4th, 4pm - 8pm- Since the parade has been postponed for a year, the Belmont Business Association has planned a festive Winter Village. Take a walk along Second Street and enjoy the lights and decorations. Don’t forget to pop into the local businesses to show them your support.

The parade may be canceled, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the floats. The side streets will be closed so the holiday floats can be on display. You will have a rare opportunity to see what the floats look like up close. The entertainment has been moved to a stage. Enjoy the local school performers, the brass band, and the other exciting events they have planned. This is a family-friendly event meant to evoke the spirit of the Christmas Parade and get people excited for the holidays.

Daisy Avenue Lane Christmas Tree Lane Parade Saturday, Dec 11th, 12pm - 4pm- The iconic Daisy Avenue Parade will be happening this year with a few changes. The slightly scaled-down parade will wind through the Wrigley neighborhood. Instead of crowding along the streets, you can enjoy the parade by stepping out your front door. They won’t be completely changing things. Part of the parade will still be on the original parade route.

You can still enjoy this with your dog, since you will be close to home, and you won’t have to worry about the press of the crowd. As in previous years, the parade decorations will be positioned along the Daisy Median after the main event.

Can you believe it!? This will be the Daisy Avenue Parade’s 67th year!

Naples Boat Parade Saturday, Dec 18th- For the 75th year, Naples will be celebrating the holidays with its boat parade. Large and small boats will compete to see who has the best Christmas decorations. Expect amazing things this year since the theme is “Diamonds On the Water”. Believe it or not; the boats won’t be the only thing on display. On the shore, homeowners will be trying to outdo each other with light displays.

Find a spot early and walk up and down the streets to exercise your dog and marvel at the lights. There are plenty of areas from which to view the boats in all of their holiday glory. It is certain to be a feast for the eyes. But of course, don’t forget to bring a jacket. Even if you aren’t right on the water, the air will be a little chillier near the canals.

Long Beach Christmas Light Displays, Dec 4th-25th- Long Beach is known for our neighborhood holiday displays. Take your pup out for a night drive and tour the neighborhoods. Copper Court in Penny Lane Estates has become famous for its half-mile interactive display. The neighbors on this street have gone all in, and the displays are synchronized with music. If you’re new to the area, or if you’re a long-term resident who just hasn’t made the time, this is a sight you absolutely cannot miss.

Long Beach Chorale & Orchestra A-Caroling We Go! Dec 19th- Join Long Beach's Chorale & Orchestra for their holiday concert. With holiday classics and a selection of carols, this event is perfect for the whole family (minus your pup on this one since it's indoors).

Yorba Linda Holidays On Main, Dec 4th- Take a short drive to Yorba Linda to enjoy the Holidays On Main festival. This event is outside, so bring your dog on a leash and let him enjoy the walk while you stroll around the vendors. There will be pictures with Santa, craft beer and wine, and local artists and artisans. So we know you’ll be able to find something unique for the people on your gift list.

If it’s a family outing, you’ll have a hand free to try out wreath making. And don’t forget to get your family picture with Santa. Visit the face painting booth to relive your childhood, and of course, enjoy some tasty festival food. The food stands will feature local restaurants, so you can find your new favorite restaurant while getting your holiday shopping done.

Santa Paws In Dana Point Harbor, Dec 4th-5th, 10am - 3pm- If you want to treat your pup to a dog-centered event, take a jaunt down to Dana Point. You can get your pooch's photo taken with the big man himself. The cost is $15 and you will get your dog’s picture right away. The proceeds from this event will be going to help the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal shelter. What better way to show the spirit of the season than by giving a dog or cat a second chance!?
