Fun and Furry (PET-FRIENDLY) Fall 2019 Events In Long Beach

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean we can’t still have outdoor fun! In fact, the cooler weather here in Long Beach can make dog-friendly adventures even more enjoyable. And of course, we can’t forget about Halloween and all the tricks and treats Long Beach has in store for our pets!

If your pup is barkin’ at a knot from boredom, now is the perfect time to scope out pet-friendly activities in the Long Beach area. We put together a list of fun and furry fall events for you, so get ready to leash up the pups and lickety split!

1. Blockhead Pack Walk

Saturday, October 19th, 2019

Starting at 9:00am

Colorado Lagoon, Long Beach, CA

We at Pet Waggin’ love hearing about pack walks like the Blockhead Pack Walks! Not only is it a chance for our favorite doggies to make friends, but it’s a chance for dog-lovers in our communities to network. If you and your pup are getting a little tired of taking the same old routes every day, Blockhead Pack Walks is a great change of scenery. They ask that you bring one dog per person, and meet with them every 3rd Saturday!

2. 2019 Los Angeles Strut Your Mutt

Saturday, October 26, 2019

7:30am - 12:00pm

Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CA

Join Strut Your Mutt on October 26th to bring communities together and raise awareness for homeless pets. The series of dog walks helps raise money to help save the lives of homeless animals, and you even get a say in where the money goes!  You can choose between the Best Friends Animal Society or another participating animal welfare charity. After the walk, there are tons of activity tents to check out, from paw painting to photo booths, vet and trainer talks, raffles, and more!

3. 2019 Fall Corgi Beach Day

Saturday, October 26, 2019

10:00am - 3:00pm

Huntingdon Dog Beach

How lucky are we? A beach day in late October! We’re so excited about Corgi Beach Day for several reasons. For one, this event is FREE, and two, ALL dogs are welcome! The SoCal Corgi Beach Day organizers have broken world records by having 1200+ corgis in past attendance, but they love and welcome all breeds of dogs (and their humans)! If you want to add some summer fun to your fall, grab a board and boogie down with your favorite pup!

4. Pit Bull Appreciation Day

Saturday, October 26, 2019 10:00am - 3:00pm

Marine Stadium, Long Beach

Blockhead Brigade has partnered with Live Love Animal Rescue & Lucky Dog Humane Education to celebrate pit bulls and their biggest fans. There’s a lot to check out on Pit Bull Appreciation Day, like Pit Bull Advocacy groups, great local vendors, food, pet portraits, dog adoptions, and more. The best thing is, this is another event that welcomes ALL dogs of all breeds and sizes! If you and your pibble want to get more involved in the community, this is the event for you.

5. An Artisan Halloween Event

Saturday, October 26, 2019 4:00pm - 9:00pm

The Pike Outlets in Long Beach, CA

Time to take your dog to the market because Urban Hive just about covers all the delicious and diverse food groups for Long Beach foodies. During this year’s Halloween event, over 60 artisan vendors are coming to serve up plates and products to woo the artisanal heart. This is a FREE event, so don’t sweat it when you find that special something at the market that you just can’t leave behind.

6. Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade

Sunday, October 28, 2019

Starts at 2:30pm

Marina Vista Park in Long Beach, California

“Before the Parade Passes By,” make sure you make it out to Marina Vista Park this fall to join the crowd! This is THE go-to Howl’oween event in Long Beach, as Haute Dog is expecting over 500 dogs in costume parading to raise money for local spay/neuter and adoption groups. And don’t forget to pick a costume for yourself AND your pet and show off your Howl’oween skills—It’s FREE for humans (adults and children) to wear costumes and enter the contest and parade! If you register your pooch, all entry fees go toward the Community Action Team, a nonprofit that promotes social change.

7. Pet Waggin’s Tricks and Treats for Shelter Paws

October 6 - 19, 2019

Various Drive Locations

You guessed it! Your very own favorite dog walkers & pet sitters (us, at Pet Waggin’ of course!) are holding a donation event for Long Beach Animal Care Service shelter animals from October 6th through October 19th. If you and your pets are just itchin’  to help shelter animals, we are looking for sealed and unopened treats, as well as toys for cats and dogs. Pet-Waggin’ is partial to this 4oz Beef Roll for dogs, a GREAT donation item that was recommended by the shelter!

We’re holding these collection drives at several different drop off locations:

*Please note: Long Beach Animal Care Service does not accept pig ears, rawhides, or toys made in China.*

Are you looking for more ways to help shelter pets? Long Beach Animal Care Service relies heavily on volunteers, so consider donating your time by checking out these volunteer opportunities!

Our Pet Waggin’ team of caregivers are experts at keeping your pets active and engaged. That’s why we’re always lookin’ for community activities for you and your fur-friends. We want you to be in the know, too! Get a wiggle on and follow us @petwagginpetcare to find out about other local hootenannies!
