The Ultimate Pet-Friendly Guide to Long Beach

Updated: Aug 20, 2019

Lucky for us, Long Beach is probably one of the most pet-friendly areas in the world. We have over 10 dog parks in town, lots of pet friendly restaurants complete with patios, and plenty of pet shops and businesses to ensure we give our pets the best life and care possible.

Since we’re the best darn pet experts in town and we LOVE our town, we thought we’d share with you all the best pet-friendly spots around.

Because after all, how much fun can we REALLY have if we don’t have our four-legged best friends along with us?

Long Beach Dog Beaches

1. Rosie’s Dog Beach

Rosie’s is actually the only real off-leash dog beach in Long Beach area! How could you not love it? It’s a 4-acre free space for dogs to run, play, swim, fetch, and roam.

The Details:

Location: On Ocean Boulevard between Granada Ave. & Roycroft Ave.

Hours: 6am-8pm

Long Beach Dog Parks

Any Long Beach resident knows that we have an large amount of dog parks around us, which is so amazing. In case you’re overwhelmed with all the options or want to know the rules, we’ve listed our favorite dog parks below and added a link here with all of the Long Beach dog park rules.

1. Recreation Dog Park

Recreation Dog Park is the dog park that we go to for our dog park play days with Pet Waggin’ Pet Care! It has watering stations, benches, and poop bags for guests. It is also lighted at night time, which is a big bonus!

The Details:

Location: 5201 E. 7th Street

Hours: 6am - 10pm every day

2. El Dorado Dog Park

El Dorado Dog Park has a separate area for big dogs and small dogs, which is a really nice addition. It has the basics that all dog parks should, like a drinking fountain, bench seating, and waste baskets for all of those poo bags! It’s also a grassed dog park!

If your doggie isn’t a huge fan of playing with all of the other dogs in the park, El Dorado East Regional Park is filled with beautiful on-leash walking trails for all to enjoy!

The Details:

Location: The entrance is at the Spring Street entrance for El Dorado East Regional Park

Hours: 7am-5pm between Nov. 1 - Feb. 28 AND 7am-8pm between Mar. 1 and Oct.31

3. Bixby Dog Park

Bixby is one of the most recent dog park additions to Long Beach, making “a total of 11 acres in the City where dogs and their owners can make friends and be active,” according to Mayor Robert Garcia. How lucky are we!? Bixby Dog Park also has separated areas for small dogs and big dogs.
